Hey, you who are about to read. Yes, you.
Stop, leave this page, don't read, don't delve deeper.
It's much better to leave things as they are.
It's much more comfortable to continue like this.
Don't read something that might make you "listen" from a different perspective.
Pappagallo:
the voice of neurodivergence
If, despite the warnings, you’ve chosen to continue reading, it means you feel there’s something on this page that might interest or intrigue you.
Pappagallo is a project that talks about voices.
Yes, because even if we don’t reflect on it, each of us listens to thousands of minutes of voices every day.
On the radio, with headphones or on TV, and even guides while we visit historical monuments.
Voices, voices, voices.
Voices that tell us the weather, that preview the news, that read our books or podcasts that accompany our travels.
What's the problem?
All the voices you hear are voices of neurotypical people.
Voices of trained professionals capable of keeping us glued to what they're telling and able to make us feel emotions and passion.
For many hours every day we listen to their voices and convince ourselves that they are the only ones.
But who are neurodivergent people?
Autistic people, those with language disorders, stuttering or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
They are people who have voices with a prosody, rhythm, tone, intensity, and timbre different from most other people.
Why don't we hear the voices of neurodivergent people?
The voices of neurodivergent people sometimes seem robotic and often express emotions differently from what we're used to.
The less we hear neurodivergent voices, the more they become "strange" and unpleasant to us!
How we want to solve the problem
Pappagallo is a project that wants to give voice to neurodivergent people.
Actually, let's be clearer: Pappagallo doesn't want to "give voice," because neurodivergent people already have a voice; rather, it wants to support them in bringing their voices into the world of entertainment, radio, weather forecasting, podcasting, etc...
In short, bringing the voices of neurodivergent people into your life.
What is Pappagallo?
Pappagallo is an academy to train neurodivergent people to become professionals in using their voice and enter the job market.
Pappagallo is a hub where neurodivergent voices can meet TV, radio, and communication, dubbing, and tourism agencies.
Why?
Pappagallo wants to give voice to neurodivergent voices to bring inclusion to what we listen to.
